Bad TPS symptoms

It's a 1995 E150 Conversion w/5.8 & E4OD showing 193K miles. This is an ongoing intermittant problem. Not showing any codes on my scanner. Yesterday while taking a 40 mile trip on the interstate highway the OD "OFF" light on the stalk began flashing again and when I exited and started off from the stop sign it shifted hard in all gears but harder 1st-2nd. Van sat for about 2 hours and the return trip was uneventful. Fluid is good and red and full. Could this be a TPS starting to go or does the TPS set a code when it goes out? Thanks.

If the OD light is flashing, there is a transmission code. Its not likely a TPS code but its possible. I would first expect an overtemp code or a torque converter slip code.

You need to have the transmission codes checked.

You may have a VSS sensor problem, if you are vary careful you can take it out wipe off the end and put it back in.
If this fixes it you need to change the oil in the rear end.
