They also have BF Good rich All Terrain for $176+ tax mounted, balanced and installed.
What is the difference between these two tires, the guy that I spoke to at
Costco, had no idea.
I'm leaning towards getting the same tires because of how long they lasted, and still have quite of bit of tread left.
I would recomend the AT KO's over the rugged trail
they have a better reputation!
I have them on my truck
If you only want a set of street friendly AT vs more aggressive tread, try Nitto Terra Grappler AT's, i got mine at Discount tire for a great price!
I used to have those before I went from a 16" rim to a 17" rim and tire

As I heard TOYO tires are the way to go if you can find a set all I been hearing is good about them.

I wanted a set I looked for 3 months And could not find a set in the size I wanted I ended up with Mickey Thomson they are made by Cooper tire they say the new type M/T should be good for 45000 to 50000 miles we will find out.

Oh Yea look at Cooper tires.

Toyo Open Country AT's are great!

However, Nitto is owned by them and they are less expensive and just as good, IMO
I want to get Toyo Open Country AT's but they are in high demand due to their sponsorship of off-road/rockcrawling events.
Nitto sells AT and MT tires and now even a DUNE style
available at any Discount Tire

Pro Comp Tires

As for Pro Comp Tires I heard mixed reports about them most of them from SD ownners saying they dont last long not good for hauling weight mainly they are almost maxed out by the weight of the truck and they come apart on you same for the PJ ( Parnilli Jones ) not good at holding balance ect Check out the National tire safty report they are not doing well.

I heard they work fine on a light weight truck.

The sad thing about them they are made by Cooper but they are made by Pro Comp and PJ Spec's not Cooper tires Spec's.

I not read bad reports about Cooper Tires so far.

The Old style Of M/T tires dont last long that was a give me and still cost a lot I have read mixed feeling on the Baja Claw type Old style M/T tires.

Just remeber Firestone Gotten a bad Rap it was not there fault after all it was Ford the were putting a to Small tire on there cars/Truck/Suv's, Pepole were driving them with not enough air in them and over driving the Cars/Trucks/Suv's and running them a higher speeds than they were intended for so figure this in to is it realy a bad tire or not.

Just keep a close eye on the tires rotate them every 3000 to 5000 miles keep them aired up and dont drive like a Knuckle Head.

Dick Cepeks are Mickey Thomsons Tires Made by Cooper Tires The D/C They say should get 45000 to 50000 out a set if you treat them right, The D/C 2 are also the new genaration tires from M/T they should last.

I had a set of the old Bias ply Dick Cepek Fun Counrty back in 1980 on a Toyota mini pick up I gotten 25000 to 30000 miles on them but I beat on them pretty darn hard There were like the old M/T wear out fast back in the day then once again tires did not cost as much either.

You should be happy with them so far I been happy with my M/T ATZ.

alfama351 - how are you using your truck? Strickly on the road towing and hauling? I see you are in NJ. Do you get a lot of ice and snow where you drive? The Rugged Trail tire is just as Skipper stated a price concious tire. The AT KO is a better tire and will do well in all but deep mud. They are great on ice and snow as they have plenty of sipes cut in the tread. I ran a set through several ice and snow storms here in NY and were very impressed with them for not being a dedicated snow tires.

El Gato - I have a set of DC FC II's on my SD right now. Good riding tire, but they are noisy which surprised me as the tread pattern is not that aggressive. The lack of aggressive tread pattern is also a problem in that I had to put the truck in 4-wheel drive to get it off a wet lawn. Didn't have that problem with the BFG muds or Mickey T Claw radials. Just as an FYI to everyone, the Radial Baja Claws only lasted 20,000 miles on my SD. They had great traction in the mud, snow, and on the road while they lasted.

Most of my driving is on the road, yes lots of ice and snow conditions and I do tow all year round. This truck is way to big for off roading, but there is the occasional mud hole or tricky spot. I have 50k miles on the original tires now (BF Goodrich Rugged Trail T/A), yes hey have been used and abused, and still have quite a bit thread left.
I'm very happy as to how long they lasted and how tough they are. From all the replies that I received on this topic it looks to me that, BF Good rich All Terrain will be my next set of tires.
Thanks everybody for all the great replies and info.
