Has anybody run this cam before? It's a 272 advertised duration, 216@.050, basically looks like they took the exhaust lobe from the 343901 and made it the intake lobe too.
Thank you much Race. I've decided on the 052, Napa was able to get it today, as opposed to Wed. for the 901, and the truck has to be running by Fri. I'm glad to hear it ain't giving up much in the way of torque, not that it's usually a concern with a 390.
I've got the same combo in my 68 Merc's 390. 10.25 to 1 comp ratio (stock std bore pistons) Crane 272 degree Energizer w/.533 lift. 428PI intake, 750 Holley, FPA headers. Idles almost like a stocker, just a hint of lope cold, pulls from idle to 6000. My Merc weighs 4200 lbs. Runs the 1/4 in mid 14's with the stock C-6 and 3.70 rear. Good cam. Better price than the others. Runs on 89 octane gas with 12 degrees initial timing.
That's a good tip on the timing. I was gonna run 10 degrees to start with and be safe, but if you've got more compression than me and run on 89, then I s'pose I can too. Is that 1/4 time without even a shift kit?
Oh shoot!!! Go for something in the 240/250 at .050 duration..and about .650" lift..and het the heads ported......and the intake and let the motor BREATH!! LOL...

The C-6 in it is all original. 62,000 miles and 38 years without a rebuild. Column shifted thru the 1/4 Oil's been changed in it once that I know of. Hell, it doesn't need a shift kit, all those years and it shifts like it's got a kit. Got a little gummed up and dried up, sitting like it did.
