E4OD Temperature results: Thanks!!!
I just wanted to post the result of all the work, to thank everybody and to provide some feedback.
I have an F53 Motorhome Chassis 1998 460 E4OD (Same thing as an F Super Duty). I changed tghe tranny fluid, and installed a temp gauge.
This week I drove back through Virginia and West Virginia, loaded at the GCWR (15K), and pulling a 3.5K toad, averaging 60-65 MPH. All of this between 12 to 4 PM, with only 1 stop for gas, at a temperature of 90+ outside.
The temperature in the tranny barely got over 160. I thought that may be the gauge was wrong, but I measure the pan with an infrared gun, and it was close enough.
The temp sensor is in the line going to the tranny cooler.
I'm more than happy with this, and I just wanted to thank everybody for all the education.
