boxing frame for MII susp on 51 f1

i have the supplied boxing plates that came with the mii kit. my friends think i should box the entire frame for strenght and rigitity. is this a good idea or not?
i will be down to a bare frame soon so if it should be done now is the time. i wasnt sure if this was too rigid or not

Is there such a thing as a frame that is to stiff. You can look a my gallery and see one in the process of being boxed. It will take out all possible torque flex to help in the drag race type conditions. Also helps in the road race handling situations. Helps with body roll. Good luck.

I'm sure you meant to say there is NO such thing as a frame too stiff.

Also, consider how you plan to rustproof the inside of that boxed frame.

I'm going to fully box the frame on my '36, I'll paint it before hand, and grind off paint for the welding., then paint over the boxing plates. I'll have 1.5 inch holes in my plates, just for the "cool-look" factor, suppose yu cold shoot sealer through them, but I won't worry about it...might becaome an issue in 40 or 50 years, but then my great-grandkids can worry about it then.

If you're building a showtruck/driver, then have it dipped after boxing, to eliminate any and all chances of bleed through from oxidation, otherwise, don't worry about it.

Reagrding whether you should or should not box the whole frame, my opinion is if the cab is off, and you can keep it all square, do it. I'd think you'd get a better ride with an IFS and a boxed frame, this way the suspension does all the work (as it should be)

Boxing the entire frame is a very good plan, but as Bdox said, make sure you protect the closed areas. A good weld-through primer is how most folks go. Also, make sure you have attach points for brake lines and the rear light wire harness. Tapping the boxing plates is usually sufficient, but it's nice to do that before painting the frame.
