Backpressure Sensor Alternative?

Can you cap off the manifold where sensor tube attaches and wire open the EBP butterfly with no ill affects? Reason I ask is I'm unable to unscrew the old sensor without doing harm to the rest of the componant. Will likely let a pro. mech. do it at a later time towards cold weather. ( like all the new smilies!)

You can get a code eliminator here http://www.blackclouddiesel.com/Ford/codepigtails.htm#code2 look toward the bottom of page.
In this pic you can see I used the port to check drive pressure.

Yes, you can cap it off. See my thread that someone posted above. Just be really careful if it starts to get cold. That sensor is used for sure (among other things possibly) to tell the computer when to open the EBPV if you're applying throttle. Without it being able to sense backpressure, it will leave the valve closed thinking there is none. Then you'll have virtually no power and could overheat some vital components if you continue to give it some throttle. I have my EBPV on manual control, so this is not a worry for me. I had the code eliminator, but after Cat_Man had his fail and lose some power, I took it off, put the sensor back on, and capped the tube and sensor. I don't think my code eliminator was bad because the truck ran the same after I put the sensor back on.

thanks,i plan on fixing it right before it gets cold. the #^*@ sensor is siezed. i sprayed it with penetrating lube but no dice. so i dont need to wire the valve open? this all started thinking the valve was stuck shut as i get skyrocket egt's and little boost. again thanks, great post jtharvey
