I had to peel the 4x4 stickers off the side, and just picked up the tailgate from the painter today. I had both the Ranger XLT emblem and the football size Ford emblem removed, holes welded, and painted. Got to get pics of it smooth, but it looks 110% better. Whoever at Ford came up with the Ford emblem idea for the center of the tailgates needs to be made available to the industry....
I've got to say this is the best Ranger I've had to date. Runs good, pulls good, and rides pretty well also. This one won't get the mods like the Explorer has, but it is getting the tint and Line-X next week. Then the Undercover bed cover off my 98 I sold will go back on. After that, I'll start looking at wheels and tires. Its the first 4x4 I've owned, so I have to study up on the sizes a little. I don't want a lift kit, but would like a little more meat than what is on it...
I agree about the tailgate emblems. How much did it cost to get that changed & painted? I've been curious as to whether someone could just simply swap a '05 tailgate onto one of the 06+ Rangers. Does the sheetmetal have the same contours across those years? Have fun with your new baby!
Looks nice. Here's my favorite part:

Thanks! I had to take the emblem off. It was driving me crazy. Everything seems the same on the bed, so I believe an earlier gate would work. My Undercover bed cover off my '98 fits the '07...
I have a friend at the Ford dealership, so he took the emblems off, welded the holes, primered, painted, and clearcoated for $75 for me. I imagine it would cost someone off the street a little more...

Wow, you can't beat that deal with a stick - lol. Mine's a '99, so I was curious more than anything else. Maybe it will help out some of the other newer Ranger owners.
I bought my 04 new, it's a white 4x4 xlt supercab 4.0 5 speed. I cranked the torsion bars about 2" to level it. The biggest tire that I can run on my stock rims, and 2" lift are 265/75-16's, I got bfg at ko's. I like the stock rims, so that worked out. I did a few mods, like k&n intake, jba headers, gibson catback, e-fan, udp, and programer, it runs awesome. Also put a gear driven detroit tru-trac lsd in the rear, bilstein shocks, and skidplates. I bulit my own fx4 level 2. I hope you enjoy your truck as much as I do mine.
Nice truck, yet the big Ford emblem doesn't really bother me like so many others. Chevy and Dodge have had big emblems for years. The over-all appearance of the new 2006-2007's are nice regardless.
Cool. It won't be long before I do the same. I ordered a 2007 Ranger long bed this week. I'm being told I can expect it in 6 to 8 weeks plus allow for 2 weeks vacation for the assembly line shutting down.
As far as wheels go for toyo open country, they run well arent loud and work good with 4wd. they could be better in the snow, but overall, aint too bad. i run them, and love them. they make for good race tires too.
I as well like the looks of the new ranger, emblems and all, even fake rivets, it makes it unique to it's year. Of course like the late Will Rogers once said, "I never met a ranger I didn't like, unlike my ex-wife, who never met a man she didn't like.
