FTE Crew,
Contemplating purchasing an 01 F150 4.6L man trans 2WD w/88K. Concerned about reliability, I hear good things about this engine. Thoughts on this engine versus 8 cylinder?
Also concerned about towing capacity for the 4.6L, must I have a 3.55 rear to pull 3000 lbs (boat)??
Given I will only tow maybe 10 times per year with about 2500 - 3000 lb will a v-6 work? I am more concerned about overall fuel economy when I am not towing I just want to make sure I do not damage the truck when I am towing.
Yes, I would Highly recommend the 3.55 Gears. If it has 3.08 Gears, then 2000# is the max. The Automatic tranny's are much stronger than the Mazda 5-speeds in these trucks.
