Hi guys! Was hoping someone could tell me if there is a heatshield or something under my 360ci intake. Called the parts store today to price a head gasket set and they said it didn't include the heat shield. When I asked what it was he didn't know and they couldn't find it in there system. I can't take the motor apart till I figure out everything I need so any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is a "baffle" under the intake which is designed to keep engine oil off of the heat passage that goes through the intake manifold, but that item is generally not "replaced" rather the rivet is removed and you clean out any oil deposits in there. I would think they might be referring to the heat shield type exhaust manifold gaskets which protects the plugs/wires.

Don, I agree with Thom on the part. I just pulled and resealed an intake. You will have to pull it before you know weather it's in there or not. I got several more recommendations to leave the sheild, rather than remove it, for what it's worth.
Get a Fel pro gasket set and a tube of rtv silicon, and after you get it all drained down, and apart the reseal is simple. ;-)

In the still cool hours of the night, you can hear chevys rusting away.
I can only add one thing to this post. Find yourself a used aluminum manifold and cut about 80 pounds off your motor. If you have a boat, the cast iron 360 manifold makes an excellent boat anchor.
