Angry Broken front shock mount

This is my first post but have been reading posts for several months and obtained a lot of good information. I just replaced the shocks on my 1998 2wd f-150 with Bilstein heavy duty shocks. During the install, I snapped one of the lower bolts to the right front shock mount. Would it be dangerous to drive the truck short distances until it can be repaired or should I just leave it parked until repair is done.
Also, is this something that I could buy at the auto parts store and replace myself fairly easily or is it more involved and better left to a service shop. Thanks for all replies

Welcome to the forum

It won't be dangerous to drive the truck but if you drive it very long with only 1 bolt holding on the shock you might risk having the other one break because it may flex.
Depending on how it's broken you can probably drill it out and replace it with a normal bolt and nut.

Racerguy,
thanks for the reply. I sort of figured that it would put stress on the other bolt, but wanted to make sure it wouldnt be unsafe to drive to a repair shop. I think it would be much quicker to have someone fix it than to crawl under there and deal with it myself.
By the way, you and the others on this site have saved me countless dollars and time with your knowledge of these trucks. Although this was my first post, i have found answers and diagnosed several problems by reading other posts and responses. When I have a problem with the truck, this is the first place that I look. Thanks for helping
