hey guys, i have a 87 f150 witha 302, every once in a while when i get get on the gas the truck pauses and then goes, i think its becuase the o2 sensor is gone and its dumping extra fuel into the engine, but i'm not sure
Had an 89 with similar problems. Turned out to be a vaccuum leak. Check the vaccuum canister on the passenger side inner fender well. The metal ones look like a large tomato can and rust along the bottom. Later trucks had a plastic canister... these can be sourced from a scrap yard cheap. This canister should hold some vaccuum even after the engine is shut off.
PULL CODES www.fordfuelinjection.com will show you how before you start throwing parts at an unknown issue. when was it tuned up last with plugs, wires, cap and rotor and timing set/checked?
i don't have anything to check the codes with, and the vacuum canister has already been replaced, along with plugs, wires, brand new cap and rotar, MSD i believe...timing chain has 30,000 miles on it, i'll get you guys a specific descripition of whats going on with my truck, i'm gonna take it up town and watch it and see when tis happens
took the truck up town and ran fine till it warmed up, and everytime i stopped and took off, full to half throttle the truck would rev up and pause for a second or two and then keep going. I have never had or heard of this problem,
thanks guys
chris
