Hood won't open

Hood won't open
I have a 2000 Explorer XLT 4 door w/ 5.0. The hood won't open. I don't see an 8mm bolt to disconnect the latch, and the cable has no tension. It had tension until I monkeyed with it. I broke the first law in do it yourself maintenance. "To do no harm" I had someone engage the hood latch while I pushed and pried and beat on the hood. No luck. Any suggestions?

Hey I feel your pain. I have a 2001 Explorer XLT 4x4 and my hood release has always seemed loose. I think it was loose before i hit my deer, but it was definately loose after it was repaired. IT would always pop for a year and a half after the accident, till it got worse and i coudnt get it popped. The way i had to get it open is to prop the lever open under your dash, then crawl under the truck and gently pull the cable. WE then adjusted the cable so i dont have to crawl under the truck anymore.
