I have an '87 Bronco2 4wd 2.9L 5 spd tranny. I am trying to get the windshield washer pump to work. It gets 12-14 volts when I pull the switch but it doesn't turn on. It's a new pump and it works if I run it directly across the battery. Please give me some ideas..
You may have the pump pushed in the tank too hard. I had the same problem with my '90 and what happened was that if pressed in too far the inpeller was making contact with the tank and wouldn't tun.
Sounds like the ground from the switch. It works accross the battery because you have a proper ground. Use a 12 volt probe to ***** the stock power wire to verify 100 percent power is there. Then use one of those cheap blue fold over crimp type things to bypass the the stock ground wire with a small lengh of new wire to the nearest clean metal surface and drill a little hole for a ground screw. It should work after that. been there with my '85
Again, probably part of your battery drain problem. Could be a bad multi-function switch ... moreso the wiper/washer part than the turn signal part... or even both. Sounds like you inherited a lot of electrical system demons that must be vanquished!
