I'm looking for a "how to rebuild a 292" book, dvd, whatever. I'm not going to tear into the rebuild right away, but I'd like to know what I'm doing before I start. I've never rebuilt an engine before, so I need some sort of tech data. I've tried the search engines, searched the forums, fussed, cussed, and drank heavily; still nada! I'm also being told that the shop manual being shipped to me isn't going to help much with the rebuild. Does anyone know where I can get my hands on a "how to..."?

Yea, I checked out that 3rd link already, plus a few more sites about Y-Blocks. Maybe I'm a little gun-shy, but I'm looking for a "Hey! Read this, look at the picture, and do it" type thing. I found all kinds of stuff like that for my 460, but since I found such a straight truck, that 460 and the "Future Hotrod" have been put on the back burner.
I just glanced at those first 2 links and they look really good. Do you own the ..."Owner's Bible"? You've been helpful as useful Colonel! (saluting) Thank you sir!
Try the Street Rodder Magazine site. Within the last few years they did several series on how to rebuild nostalgia engines including the Y-block. I remember they did a six or seven installment series on the Y-block. I'm not sure of the years they did the series. I'll look through my old issues when I get a chance. If they don't have anything on their website under Tech then it may be off to the used bookstore and locate the back issues. That's chancy though. Like I said, I'll check my back issues for the months and years.
The book. I just realized what you were talking about. I was just wondering if there was any (292 rebuild) specific info in it. Anyway fellas, thanks again for the help.
