I've got an 04 sc 5.4 4x4 with 3.73 limited slip that I tow with and it's been great even pulled a few stumps, I'm looking to trade to a 06 5.4 supercrew but with gas being what it is was wondering how much I would sacrifice if I went to the 3.55 gear instead. Any help? Thanks Rich

you know, i think i read here in FTE that the gain in mileage with the 3.55 's is very small.
If you want to continue to tow, I'd stick with the 3.73's. Also, if you plan on putting taller tires on that 4 X 4 someday, you might need 4.10 's or 4.30 's. I have 33 inch tires and changed my gears to 4.10 's. Looking back, i should have put 4.30 's in.

i went to an automotive fabrication shop where the guy has been doing gear changes for many years.
