I took my 2001 Excursion to the shop due to a vibration around 65 mph and for the driverside front tire not wearing evenly. They told me that the tire wear was called cupping and that it was caused by me not rotating the tires often enough. They told me that on a big truck like the excursion I should rotate the tires every 3k miles. I am just wondering why the passenger side tire was not cupping if it was just me not rotating the tires that caused this problem. I hope that they are right and that rotating the tires and balancing will fix the vibration and uneven wear of the tire. Cheap fix. I was sure that it would be something more like ball joints.
Mine is a 2wd .. had the same problem on the same tire. Got under there and looked ... my drag link was so sloppy I thought it was gonna pop off. Mine is a 2wd.
while running in park ... look under the front while someone rocks the steering wheel left to right. If it's bad you'll see it have vertical motion.
