I did this a while back but figured it'd be helpful to someone looking for the module or wire.

On the '94...and I take no responsibility for this working on any other years... the main wire loom that comes through the firewall in that big white plug, after exiting the firewall under the dash, the wires go through a loop of electrical tape. After this tape the red/pink wire is clearly visible laying in the floorboard looking up past the clutch pedal, it's on the very outside.

I clipped it, stripped it, and then ran a wire from the 12V side with the doors open to a light in the console. Now if I have the doors open with the key in the ignition, I have an absurdly bright red LED light to remind me.

Hope it helps someone else.

I know the picture ain't great...behind the clutch pedal is the large white wire plug.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I am guessing it would be the same for your 94' since the 93' was the first year of that body style you have. Put the key in, get it dining, and then search for the little box, as I recall it wasn't too hard to find.
same for my '93 ranger XLT. I puled out my ashtray deal-i-o so I could slide my CB Radio in there... I remember seeing that dinging black box back behind everything. I actually disconnected it from its plug while I was working on the CB setup cuz it was driving me nuts!

Next time I pull my ashtray to pull my dash I may have to pull that module out...get a little extra space.

I could quite clearly pinpoint the noise area in the center dash where it was at, but couldn't find a good way to get to it...now it seems rather obvious. I always left the key outta the ignition when I had the ashtray out so it wouldn't make the noise lol.

Yeah, on my '93, the ding-ding black box is mounted just to the left of the computer, right under the center of the dash... well, kinda over to the driver side a tad. Mine has a standard clip-plug on it for easy disconnection. You should be able to get to it just by reaching up under the dash while kneeling on the ground outside. Or, take out your ash tray, and you should be able to put your hand/forearm in the hole where the ashtray was, then take your other hand and put it under the dash... then you got two hands on it.

Pretty easy to squelch that bad boy.
