I got this terrible vibration, shakes whole truck.I went over everything(bolts).
Moter mounts,radius arm,sterring gear,carrier bearing.Everthing seems tight.
My tires on front are a little worn on sides.40 thousand mile tires with about 60 thousand on them.Would this cause that bad of vibration?
Had front end alinghed about 2 months ago. They said everything is tight,I checked no play in tires. This has gotten consistently worse since front end done.
Any help would be great,Thanks.
Oh it smoothes out at about 50
The tires could be an issue. Have you tried rotating the rear tires to the front to see if it makes any difference?
Does it only vibrate while rolling? The reason I ask is that if it ever does it sitting still you know that it doesn't have a lot to do with your tires and more to do with your motor. I've had one that started a bad vibration a lower speeds and sitting still was like a rocking chair. Turned out that my manifold vaccum line had come off the vacuum resevoir.
I would suspect bad tire too. It's common for a old worn tire to seperate inside, causing a bad shake and often a bulge. If this is the case, replace it soon - you don't want a blowout. Do you notice it in the steering wheel (front) or in the seat (rear)? Scottlane had a good idea - rotate the tires to see if it changes.
I 'll try rotating tires. When i DROVE IT TODAY i TRIED A FEW DIFFERENT THINGS.
It seems it only does it when I give it the gas.I can let off gas and the vibration stops.I got underneath and the drive shaft seems to be tight.
I'm also going to jack motor up just a touch to see if one of the motor mounts has separated.
Have you had the drive shaft off? If it was and wasn't aligned in the same position when reinstalled, it could cause a problem like you are having. Checking the motor mounts like you are is a good idea, too.
I checked carrier bearing again.I can move the driveshaft up and down a little bit.Not much just a little.Maybe this could be it.I think it might be original.1979 F250
