Front end wobble

Hello all,

I get a wobble that seems to be coming from the left front tire on my 78 F-150 4x4 w/35" BFG's. I am having the tires rotated and balanced by a real truck shop, but I was wondering if the wobble could be wear on the spindle. I recently re-did the wheel bearings thing that might be the problem, but it did not fix it. The wobble is most noticable at 55-65 MPH. everything is tight on this truck and this is the last wobble/vibration to be solved. So, if you have any info that would be great. Thanks.

I have on on my 79 Bronco. In a word, aweseme. If you don't want to spend the money, the key to your problem is making sure everything is tight. You'd be amazed at how much shimmy can come from a worn or lose part. Then again, it could be your spindal if you think it's worn. Just lift the front end up, and move everything by hand. If something moves, when it's not suppose to, or if something moves and the peice it's attached to doesn't... there's a good place to start tightening/replacing.

Good luck

More than likely it's not going to be the spindle, It's probably one of two things. One, a bent wheel. Two, check the joints on the knuckle itself, the plastic alignment nipple on the top joint easily wears and breaks. If that doesn't find your problem, have a friend drive your truck and follow beside him with someone driving you. Watch and see what happens. That will probably give you a better starting point.

Tuffguy, I had the same wobble on my 71 F 100 4x4.A new set of trac bar bushings took care of my problem, it's hard too tell if the bushings are bad until you pull them apart, mine were gone but I could not tell by jacking the truck up.Good luck.
