i love the v-10, awesome power, and a great all around daily driver that i can do pretty much anything with. for really heavy haulingsuch as our tractors i still prefer our 03 f-350 cab and chassis 6 speed 7.3 with chip intake and exhaust.
i would have to say this is my favorite truck ive ever owned..i just got through installing the overload leaves from the packs you gave me onto my rear leaf packs, and i installed the bumpers that go along with them
i dont have any pictures because all my crap is packed up from moving, but ill get some here in the near future.
i dont know how ive made it this long with stock 265x70x17 tires, i want to put some of those 34" 315's in an all terrain on or something, then i will be wanting to go from 4.10 to 4.56, i wish i didnt have the dad gum mod bug
ive at least discouraged myself from an exhaust, all the v10's ive heard havent sounded too great and it seems like this new exhaust is designed to flow very well
I was wondering if you were using those springs. Hell ya coulda had the perches for them too. They aren't doing any good now.
I'm actually pretty happy with the sound I get out of mine. I just went with a FM 70. Not real loud or annoying, just enough to make it sound mean. Opened wide the V10 does sound like garbage, but with just a little throat it sounds nice.
The 265's look goofy small on it. Especially on the new trucks that fit 315's easily. I still have my stock 265's on MB Overdrive wheels and the stock steel wheels sitting in the car port. Trying to get rid of those.
I need to find a set of 315 BFG AT's for just daily driving. I'm down to driving this thing like once a week back and forth the Ft. Benning, but it is tearing the snot outta those Swampers.
damn i wish i woulda known about the perches, the rubbers and perches were not cheap from ford, oh well!! at least now it wont sag so bad when i hook to out 12k lb skid steer rig
once again i appreciate all the parts you(your wife) gave me, ive made good use of them all!!!
what muffler did you have before??
ill bet those swampers are unhappy!
im going to try and wear these stock bfg's out at least most of the way before i put tires on it, its so fun to boil them off though!
I've been running all PSC parts for almost 2 years now. On my 4th box i think, 2nd pump & it sounds awful. Ran a ram cylinder for 1/5 years until i recently changed my suspension & axles. With 265.75.16 tires it was absolutely impossible to turn the tires with a foot on the brake pedal.
Even slowing down to make a u-turn suddenly felt like manual steering. I honestly felt that it was worthless, but i will be putting another one on now that i have bigger tires. This pump sounds like it is going to die every time it turns.
Blew one of their hoses about a month ago. I've easily spent $2,000 on steering, trying to make it better & get it right. I understand the power of hydroboost, but it is scary to loose both steering & brakes while your driving down the road. Manual steering & brakes on a huge diesel SUV takes some muscle.
Most ram cylinders only have an 8" throw. I will have to measure carefully before i have a new one custom made. The body on my stabilizer alone is 14". This new '06 suspension turns unbelievably tight. There are a handful of brands out there. I believe Auto Zone deals AGR, so for convenience, they would be the wisest.
My truck SUCKS at steering into tight spots at 1-2 MPH. Most of the SD's I have done with 36/14.50, 37/13.50 or 38/15.50's (including my own) all have very similar steering characteristics at low speeds. I have been looking at the Rock Ram stuff from AGR for some time, or something equivalent, but until now have not seen the ORU kit. The AGR kit is way more $$ than the ORU stuff... and I have used ORU products in the past, they are all high quality, well engineered parts. I think the $1000.00 is probably a bargain, relatively.

I had just the stock muffler on it before. This FM 70 has just enough growl to sound cool, but not be obnoxious on long trips.
Those stockers are about to take some abuse if they don't find a new home. I wanna see what these ARB's and 4.56's will do 'em. I know I can break the 36's loose, I'm imagining those 31's will come to a nice boil.

For those that have a hard time turning the wheels and don't really go offroad, try changing the fluid. I did it on a whim with a couple quarts of leftover royal purple ATF and it is quiter and steers easier when stopped. Pull the line from steering cooler and take off the cap and let it drain for 20 minutes (engine off), easiest way to empty the old fluid.
Just asked a mechanic about it & he said he was just talking to a guy with 3 Super Duty trucks all sky high, 44s, etc. The fellow says to run full hydraulic in the front. Drives great on the highway, completely eliminates bump steer, never feel a thing that you drive over.
I don't know if it would have any play or if it is even legal, but he's had no problems passing inspections. I suspect you'd completely loose steering if the engine dies. That scares me. Imagine running out of gas in traffic at 70 mph & not being able to steer. Still, i'm gonna look into it some more. Anyone here have experience with full hydraulic steering? No steering shaft, no steering box?
if the engine dies and you have a good orbital you will have steering, but it will be like a tractor...almost impossible, but theres still no mechanical link, so it woudl suck if a hose blew...thats why i say only trai lrigs should get full hydro
