Hi, W/Prod heads fitted new problems, thanks to you guys i have my engine running all most perfect, it has a Holley 600 cfm, model number 4150, vac secs fitted with standard jets, 62 or 64! i think you call them primary jets, with the big valve heads do i go up a few jet sizes! it runs rough and misfires till the secondarys kick in, then goes like a rocket and really smooth, plugs are white, any help gladly received, regards Alan.
The stumbling and mis-fire sounds like a lean condition. So does the white plugs. I would move up in jet size until it runs good. Plug color should be a light chocolate brown. If it's dark and sooty, it's too rich. Good luck.
I just went threw the same thing the other day ! I found that the gasket was not sealing the carb to the intake manifold ! Take off the carb and see if there are any mis-alingment area's where the gasket seals against the intake, make sure it cover's the intake. If you are using a double gasket that has the brass or plastic crush sleves where the studs go threw remove the brass sleve then reinstall gasket with a little sealer arround the edge of the whole gasket. The #62 jets should be put back in so you can do a plug check. You have a vacume leak some where, eather at the base of the carb or a vacume fitting, also check all the vacume fittings make sure there plugged ! Hope this helps
After you change the jets. While the engine is running, push down on the accelerator pump. If the engine rev's up you have a vacume leak. If it stumbles and wants to die a little then you dont. Try it.
I changed the jets to no68, my Tvr now runs fantastic for the first time, since complete rebuild, i tried what you said with the accelerator pump it cuts out, thanks for the help, regards Alan
