Differences between 250 - 350

If both the 2006 250 and 350 are set up identically with a 6.0, tow package, pretty much all the options, what differences in ride and fuel mileage can I, or should I expect? Are there other differences I should be aware of? Thanks for y'alls help. Still trying to sort out the purchase of a new truck.

I understand that insurance and registration costs a whole lot more for the F350. If you don't need a dually stick with the F250

Springs are even the same. 250 has 2" blocks in rear, 350 has 4" blocks. That's about it unless you have the duelly.

Whhoooaaaa, Silver! Easy boy.

Yes, things do get brought up quite often. It's a FORUM...It's for discussion. If we didn't talk about some of the things that come up here, we would just have a big FAQ section, as most things that get talked about here have come up a million times.

The beauty of it is..........YOU have a choice on what to read and what not to read. If YOU don't like the topic or feel that is over-discussed, then CHOOSE to read a different topic.

Don't blast a guy for asking a question. If it's a topic that you KNOW has been discussed, provide the guy a good link, point him in the right direction or.............don't reply.

Thanks,
BFR

Don't forget to consider insurance, registration/dmv fees, and whether there are local weight restrictions on your residential roads.

I worked for an insurance company and the "automobile" policy stated a vehicle was 10k lbs or less, but didn't state curb weight or weight rating. This means an F250 is considered a vehicle under the policy without question, but an F350 would fall into an ambiguous area based on whether the policy was interpreted to mean GVWR, and if so an F350 would not qualify as a vehicle under the automobile policy (a commercial policy would have to be purchased). BTW, I'm not saying an F350 didn't meet the definition of an automotible under the policy, because the issue only came up in theory, but it would be wise to make sure you understand the other implications there may be when purchasing. If you don't need the vehicle for commercial purposes, check with your current agent to see if there would be any exclusions based on GVWR.

Also, many areas have residential street restrictions http://www.slate.com/id/2104755/ and although there wouldn't be a difference between an F250 and F350 in the case of a 6000 lbs restriction, you should be aware of any local ordinances. My locality has different restrictions in different areas, and specifically a 7000 lbs limit on several residential streets (not based on gvwr) and at least one street I can legally drive and my friend with F350 cannot.

A frind of mine has a F350 and had a heck of a time getting it added to his insurance policy. Apparently, his insurance company thinks F350 are work trucks, and F250 can be used as "cars".

My insurance with allstate is almost $400.00 a year cheaper for the '04 F-350 than with the '04 F-250. Agent says its because F-350's are in less serious accidents and less accidents overall. Says it has nothing to do with 4x4 or 4x2 in this class of truck.
