Well, due to the heat it wasn't really well attended (there were 2 of us!) but it was still a lot of fun. I made a new connection for someone to jam with, so that was good.
I haven't heard of the Claddagh Band, but 707 encompasses a large area...from Marin all the way (I think) to the Oregon border. I'll look them up though.
I gotta say I am pretty proud of myself this weekend. We installed new wheel bearing and seals that looked like they may have been OE from 1955! And it was about 1060. Very thirsty work. Next weekend we will be chilling by the pool in Yosemite!! Jag
I'm jealous, John...not because of installing NOS 1955 wheel bearings in 106º heat, but because of the trip to Yosemite! I practically lived up there as a small child, but haven't been there since, oh about 1988 I think, when I drove through on the way to camping trip to June lake.
Dang, I wish I could get away from here for a while, but it doesn't look like that's in the cards till after New Years when things slow down a bit for the winter.
I stopped going to Yosemite Valley 20 years ago. It got too crowded for me, so if and when I do go, I usually drive on 120 and camp near Tioga Pass or down towards Lee Vining.
You guys are great, it's nice to be part of such a great group, reading this post I realize how up my alley this gang is. Yosemite - one of my favorite places, minus the crowds, but when you're climbing 1,000' off the deck you don't run into many tourists! Anyone ever heard of Salt Springs? Ben, you probably have, it's up thataway. Hmm...Celtic Music...I go to the Calaveras Celtic Faire about every year, this year it snowed about a foot which made running around in a kilt fun. Beer - well, who doesn't love that, I brew my own so that hobby is about as great as Ford's. I'm having a blast putting together mine! We're definitely gonna have to hash out a meet this summer sometime.....
Well heck, might be late to reply, but just to catch up first..
I've fished the Mokelume, been through Feather River Canyon so many times (used to haul rock/roadbase, etc back in the day) and stayed in Lyalton<sp>, used to Deer hunt in Lasseen as a kid with my dad, he could relay the stories, I could only say "I've been there", and so on. Used to hunt 'n the backside of Yosemite, forget what it;s called now, but was unprotected in the day.
Funny how it all seemed like a lifetime ago, after spending so much time doing it.
Sure do envy Clint for being able to take the long scenic routes he does now, if I were a patient man I'd love to take all the kids with me and do the same thing, problem is I can't get 10 miles down the road without an all out brawl going on in the backseat Can't wait till they're old enough for me to slip them a Mickey
Craig, I haven't made it up to Calaveras but I used to work the Renn Faire when it was in Marin. We also had a little Celtic Faire in Willits for a while, performed at that one year.

My dad always drove pickup trucks, and we 4 boys were regulated to the box - with or without a camper shell. If mom could not hear the screams he ignored whatever went on back there - let us boys settle our own arguments!
3Mike6, the first I flyfished was on the Feather River at one of the PG&E campgrounds, a very long time ago.
Also used to camp/flyfish in and around Lassen and McArthur/Burney Falls.
Are you talking about the back side of Yosemite near hiway 395?
I'm going to have to look at a Map to be sure, but I don't think it was that far, we always hunted D6, and pretty sure the "stop-line" was equal to the top of Sonora Pass, I might be thinking of Dodge Ridge and not Yosemite. It's been a lot of years

Grrrrr, problem is it's now illegal to have passengers in the open bed of a pickup, I'm not sure it's even legal with a shell or camper on anymore.
What I need is a GreyHound bus, then wall off partitions for each of the kids to call thier own
