Engine senser help

This is hopefully a pretty basic question. Im rebuilding a 2.3L off of an 88 Ranger. Im currently getting everything back together but I am missing a sensor. It is located in the lower intake but my Haynes manual (surprisingly??) doesnt mention it. I have the other two sensors (ECT and IAT) but I cant figure out what the third one is. Looks like it screws into the coolant as well. Should there be 2 ECTs or what am I missing? Also, since I replaced the oil pump, do you guys recommend filling it with something like vaseline (or soemthing else) or just taking out the distributor and priming the system that way? Thanks in advance... David F.

Where are the 4-banger guys I wonder...?

I'll take a stab at it: I've heard of some Fords having cylinder head temperature sensors that are seperate and distinct from the ECT and the temp. guage sender. I do not know for sure if that's the case with an '88 2.3L.

Well thanks but I took a look at all the sensors specified for my engine at partsamerica.com and nothing seems to match up with what you described. I appreciate the help though. Any one else have a clue ?? Thanks again... David F.
