Engine reliability

I am looking at buying ford ranger. My brother has an S-10 with 220000 miles and is still running great. do the engines in the rangers last this long? Also, what are some common problems I should look out for?
Thanks
David

Check out the post "how many miles on your ranger?" My 95 has 182,000 and uses NO oil between changes. So far I've changed the throttle position sensor ($26),one dash bulb, one trans filter, one air filter, and a bunch of tires.
