i went to go start my truck this mornig and it wont turn over the starter just clicks once when you turn the key i charged up the batterie and put a new starter selonied in what eles should i check
It will help if we know what year your truck is. The first thing I would check is if you left the dom light on all night. Or how about some other battery drainer like the parking lights. If you can swap out the battery for one that works, try that. Bad battries had me chasing my tail a time or two. Look for bad ground connections too. Of course you made sure both battery post and connections are clean. Look at all the cheap fixes first. If it's a manual like mine the motor will not turn over untill the clutch is pushed all the way to the floor board. That also got me a time or two. You can jump the solonid with some large gauge wire or plyers to see if the starter wants to work. Make sure it's in netural first. Get some cold long necks and feed them to your red neck buds and make a party out of it.
Your starter only takes a few minutes to remove. If i were you I would just pull it and take it to your local parts store. Most of them have starter testers there.
Remove and inspect all the cables. Battery + and - and the engine to chassis ground. Clean both ends of both cables and the surfaces that they attach to. Apply a little grease and reinstall. If any of the cables are in any ways suspect, like corrosion inside the insulation, buy new. Charge the battery while you are doing it. Scrub off the battery while the cables are off because the crud that accumulates can drain the battery. Dry it off and sand the terminal connections.
When it's back together, crank it up and post your results.
