Was noticing this week that diesel is getting to be lower priced than regular gas around Seattle again (Under $3.00 WAHOO!). So what is going on around the country with your prices?
And the other thing I was thinking – are the oil companies getting rid of their higher sulfur content diesel and that’s why the price is (temporarily) depressed? If so I’m gonna stock up on 50 gallon drums and put some away.

 

Fairbanks, Alaska, $2.83 per gal. in the three weeks I have been here. Has been cheaper than the lowest priced gas during that time also. I have heard it is dropping elswhere but has not moved here.

 

OOOHHH no fair! I'm in Denver and still paying $2.95. Arghh !

 

$2.79 on Eastern Shore of Maryland. Hasn't moved in 2 months. We're the last to get anything good. LOL

 

When I first came up here in 1971 fuel here was about double what it was at the time in the lower 48. But now that we have our own refinery it has brought the prices down to something a little more reasonable. Any tree huggers members here? There certainly is a lesson to be learned from this, Such as drilling offshore, ANWAR, and elsewhere. China is going to drill off of our coast of Florida, but the whacko's in the fringe left block us. Does this make sense to anyone?

In my small town it has been $3.19 for almost 3 months. The sad part about this is if I drive 50 miles to the city north of me fuel is $2.97 The ironic thing about that is ours is a trucking community, population of about 3,000 and over 400 trucks in our town. Mostly logging truck and chip trucks. One would think with the kind of amount of fuel being used here prices would be more competitive. That is one reason I sold my trucks- $4,000 to $5,000 for fuel per month didn't leave much left to cover other expenses.

Denver is also a large trucking hub - lots of OTR trucks stop here as a central location. I wonder if that's why fuel is more expensive here, in addition to where you live. You would think fuel would be more affordable...but perhaps they charge the increase because of the demand???

 

In my town I think it is just price gouging. We have two stations here and two card lock stations. I talked to the one owner and she said they have an obligation to the other stations to keep the prices the same to be fair to the others. In Couer d' Alene every station has a differnent price in effort to get you to stop and shop at their store-up to .25/gal cheaper than my town. Not here though, fair to the other station owners but gouging the locals

 

Station down the road here in Parker, CO has stayed at $2.89 for several weeks. Regular unleaded at that station has been 10-20 cents cheaper during the same period. I still have the cheaper fuel since the wife has to fill up with premium only. However we're currently looking for a little econo car to cut down on the miles we're putting on the nicer vehicles. Ugggg, I hate driving 4 bangers.....

 

I have a feeling you'll like this idea even less the very first time some guy (or girl) in a nice stroke looks down on the top of your car and looks at you like small fries!

...but..probably a wise idea!!!

Yep here in Colorado Springs it runs an average of $2.97 which is still more expensive than regular gas. That's what I like... consistancy
