No power
I would like to take the last part of your signature and add it to mine now.
Something often overlooked, but we here in V10 land have heard of the cats going bad on the earlier ones, so now, a year or two later, I wouldn't be suprised to see it in 2002-2003's now.
Unfortunately, althought OBD-II systems have been in cars for a long time, Ford insisted on putting the OBD-I system in motor homes. Ours is a 2000 model and still has an OBD-I which made it that much harder to diagnose the problem.
BUT, good news! When I was on the phone to Bill reading him Denny's notes, he was repeating them and the mechanic was obviously listening. Guess what? Suddenly, they discovered that the Mass Airflow Sensor (MAF) was shorted and didn't throw a code on the computer. Probably because it's an OBD-I system and the sensor didn't put out a code. So they ordered a new sensor that should be here this morning. They'll also do an upgrade to the air filter so that it doesn't ingest water since Ford had a problem with that.
Hope I got all this info straight -- I'm not a mechanic, and I'm just repeating what Bill has told me. I thought it would be good to write it out in case someone else does a search for the same problem.
Your comments really helped a lot -- thanks again!
Stephie
Imagine, people on the Internet just throwing out a bunch of guesses and actually hitting upon the problem before the tech who actually has the vehicle can find it!
