my buddy owns an explorer and the ignition switch is toast. the little plastic clip on the side of the switch is broken. It houses the ground wire for the ignition. I was wondering how to pull the whole switch? Couldn't figure it out on my own in the blistering heat so I'm comin to you, the masses...
thanks...
You don't metion what year. Most of them are on the to of the lower area of the steering column. Usually they are just held on with a bolt and they have slots to allow proper adjustment. However, I don't recall a ground wire in the ignition switch. Usually it only directs positively charged circuits.
Yeah, I shoulda known that, just rewired my Mustang... IDK. This wire is black and comes from the ignition. I don't have a wiring diagram. But you say it's a bolt underneith the ignition switch? I'll look for it. Thanks...
I've got an '84 GT 5speed ('78 302), and a 79 F150 400M C6 9"...
It's my buddy's truck but I don't think he's gonna fix it. See, he uses it because he fixes it but his buddy actually owns it and is behind on rent and getting to be kind of an Ahole so I don't see it getting done.
The wire is a black wire on the side of the ignition switch toward the key end... It's not part of the wiring harness that I can tell...
Yeah, I'm 90GTRagtop over there. I misunderstood. You mean the wire is near the lock cylinder at the top of the steering column as opposed to the ignition switch near the bottom of the column. It may be part of the multifunction switch wiring then.
