front shackle question

I have a 76 F250 4X4 with a 4" lift.I just added a 15000 warn winch and a custom heavy duty bumper, the combination has added over 300 LBS to the front end and it is squating a little. Has anyone increased the length of the shackle on the rear of the front spring? I dont need much just an inch or so.

The only safe way to extend a shackle is to make a new one.
Many people have fabbed their own. Personally, I like mine... but thats because they are mine. Ivan has some pretty bling ones too.

Anyways, fabbing new shackles will not help the sagging leaves. It will level your truck out better only because you are essentially lifting the front because you are extending the rear mounting point of the front leaves. This will also sacrifice ride quality because it is going to give you a worse shackle angle, prbably closer to 15º-25º off the vertical axis. but If its your only option... I guess its your only option.

Edit: Also, No mater what the truck's use, over build it. Always overbuild it. Especially on something like this. You do not want the shackle to collapse or fold or buckle on the road.

if you drop only your rear shackle, it's gonna force your pinion down and mess up your driveline angles.. also by only adding to the rear, you'll need more than an inch to get a full inch of lift- been there. with all that extra weight on some already weak springs, an add-a-leaf may be easier, and probably wouldn't ride all that rough...

I agree with fordraceboy, it'd be easier to get a add a leaf, but like RawPower said, if you want new extended shackles go for overkill.
broncograveyard has a add a leaf that should work for your truck.

IMO go with the aal's, messing with extened shackles on the front end of a vehicle that will see any road time will create way more pinion angle, and caster issues than I would ever want to deal with.
