hard brakes

hey guys, i have a 1985 f350 with a 6.9liter in it . my brakes are hard to push so i narrowed it down to a busted diaphram in the buster. thinking about swapping it over to a newer brake system out of a newer truck. need to know what all do i have to have to do this? thanks for any help

You may just need to replace the vacuum pump.

Are you talking a newer vacuum booster or a hydra boost system?
