I have an old CompuSensor Torkmaster ignition module by Clifford-Jacobs Electronics on my 360. The truck runs well, but I don't think the ignition computer is functioning correctly.
There is a three way toggle switch attached to the computer by a cable. I can only run the engine when the switch is set to "con'v. ign." When I switch it to "computer" or the middle setting, the engine dies.
It is my understanding that the middle position may be an anti-theft device, but I would like to be able to run it on computer mode and get all the benefits of these kinds of ignitions.
Any suggestions? It seems as though many folks run a hotter coil with these and I think mine is the old stock one. Is that the place to start or does anyone have any other things to check first?
This computer thing is bugging me, so I went ahead and took off the air cleaner and poked around at all the ignition wires. Everything seemed to be hooked up and no obvious loose wires, etc. Anyone have any suggestions on this?
