Talking just chiilin texas heatwave

hey let's here it for 105 today( not including the heat index) hey steve first things first do you have a set of gauges? make sure you condensor is free off bugs, birds, small animals, chevy owners and ricers.
also make sure your cluch fan on your engine is working properly! your pressures are diretly related to your ambient temperature your operating it in and your condition of your a/c system! the pressures you will see can tell you alot if you know what to look and feel for! i really would suggest if you don't have the equipment and reference material to read up on look for someone qualified to show you around the system! if you wanna try a cheap set of gauges will cost about 50 bucks and reference materials are available via net/library, but if your system has a problem and you can not properly troubleshoot it you will spend more in the long run. good luck

Toolbox, got a question for ya

Thinking of getting an X and the one I tried at the dealership had some bitchin' air coming out of it.

My current vehicle, a Rodeo has some very ****ty AC adn the fans don't even blow hard.

Are all the X's this powerful when you crank the ac's up?

Thanks

George

My AC needed a boost also. At Advance Auto, I purchased a re-charge/booster bottle for $24. It has a cheap gauge already attached. When I called some AC shops in my area the cheapest price to re-charge the Ex was $149!!!! So for $24 it was worth a shot...it worked.

You are refering to the rear A/C? If so, it's in the rear panel.

Was the compressor actually operating when you looked at the pressure gauge? It will read "too high" when the compressor is cycled off.

When it's not turning. Seriously, the compressor cycles on and off to regulate the flow of refrigerant to the system. You will hear the clutch click in and out, as it cycles off the low side pressure will attempt to equalize with the high side and rise accordingly. If the high side is high with the compressor turning, the only simple thing I can think of is that the system is already overcharged. R134a doesn't like to be overcharged and won't cool as well. You probably need to have someone put a set of gauges (low and high side) on it to get a better idea of what might be going wrong.

dannyo, i dont mean to sound like an a**, but it doesn't seem like you know too much about how an a/c system works and the line pressures that they are supposed to be at. i think on this matter, you should let someone else do it for you. sorry if i came off the wrong way, i just want you to be safe when you do it.
