The glove box on my 95 F150 makes creaking/poping noises from time to time. Is there anyway to get rid of this? I can move the glove box door just a little bit and it makes almost the exact same noise that I hear while driving, so I am pretty sure it is what is making the noise. I have checked and the 2 little rubber bumpers are still there. Also, it is not the passenger side of the dash where the mount always breaks. I already fixed that annoying problem. Has anyone else encountered this?
The door panels make some creaking sounds as well. Thats it for the interior though. I think there are some creaking etc in the bed area. As for the interior though thats it just the glove box and the door panels. Is there anything that can be done about the door panels. I figured the glove box would be an easier fix. The door panels are probably impossible to fix.
the mirrors, the small black or chrome ones, have a hidden bolt that is accessed with door panel off. that was creaking in mine. you need to figure out if it is the door panel or the door hinges that are creaking.
It is actually the door panels. I can push on them in out up down etc. They creak. They have done this for many years. It seems like it is worse now though. The door panels have been off about 3-4 times. I have new clips etc, but none of that made much if any of a change.
Is it possible to adjust anything on the glove box? I don't see anything that looks like an adjustment.
Maybe try taking the glovebox out and see if you can see wear from something rubbing?
I'm all for a fix for the door panels. That is my only real interior noise. I too have put all new clips on. I've also got a squeak that comes and goes with certain temperatures that I haven't been able to pinpoint since I got the truck four years ago. It almost sounds like it's coming from around the sliding rear window.
On the door panels I ran an small width of plastic reinforced tape under the contact area of the panel edge and the door metal; with the plastic pulled back slightly you can slip the tape into the gap and then trim the excess off the exposed area.
Also the door panels hit the dash plastic in the closed position just put some silicaone onthe contact area - I wasn't able to adjust anything to eliminate the rubbing.
I might try that. I also noticed the door panel contacting the dash. Mine only does it on the driver side. I took a dremel and ground out the spot on the door panel a little and no more rubbing. That is kinda stupid. There is a little bulge on the side of the dash that hits the door. If that little hump wasnt there it wouldnt be a problem.
i had the same annoying noise on my 94' i took the glove box out along with everything in the glovebox. i noticed the there were litle pices of plastic on the hinges of the box probably acting as a bushing of some sort. i cleaned them up and put the glove box back along with all its conents and....no noise! give that a try.
