Glove Box question

I doubt a new door is what you need....
Open the door and look at the latching mechanism. When you squeeze the sides, do the two silver things get sucked in OK? If not, replace that latching mechanism; if so, adjust the other half, the half that's screwed to the top to which the first half latches to.
I really doubt you need new anything........

I took a picture of it, but I can't figure out how to post it. Anyway I think the whole latch on the door itself is pretty much gone. It doesn't look like it was ripped off or anything it looks clean on both sides of the door. On the back side of the door that would latch to the inside of the glove box is a black plastic thing that fits inside the black plastic thing in the glove box, but it is hollow and it should probably have little colapsable wing things to latch with. Also the front of the door is void of any buttons of any kind. So I am guessing I probably need a new latch. The thing on the inside of the glove box looks like it is worn but in good shape.

This should help you with pictures.

Here is a pic of the front of the glove box. The wire is the PO's latching system LOL. I took a couple more pics but they somehow didn't save to my phone. You should be able to tell by this pic what is going on.

Here are some pictures of my non-locking glove box latch. I picked 2 locking latches (one with a key, one without) at a junkyard last year for a couple of dollars for both. I took them apart one at a time and cleaned them, put them back together, and re-keyed them to fit my truck key. I was going to use all the best parts and make one good one. But, as it turned out all the parts were very good. They are very easy to work on, a little spray, a few adjustments (that includes adjusting the catch at the top of the glove box) and they work as good as new. I hope these pictures help.

It looks like you need to make a trip to your local junkyard to get a new latch. If you look at my pictures you can see that the latch is held in place on the door by a plastic clip. Once you remove the clip, the latch will come right off. Your latch does look like it is missing pieces. I would opt for the junkyard route, since it is much cheaper and usually you can find one that is just as good as a new one. As far as technical names, I would just call it the "Glove Box Door Latch". I hope this helps.
