FTE network for breakdowns?????

After reading about the trip from hell Kennedyford had this week and all of the FTE members that helped him, and offered to help him. What do yous think about starting a network for FTE members, A list of FTE members and there Phone numbers that would Volunteer to help other FTE members that travel out of there home state that break down and could use a little help.

I think most of you are like myself and know where to go and where not to go in and around your hometown when you need Diesel parts, tires, A good mechanic, Hotels, Restaurants, or just some simply hand tools to loan.

Do we only limit it to 7.3 owners, or all FTE Diesel owners.
Let me know what you all think, Any other ideals or comments are welcomed.

I like the idea....but I'm not sure if everyone posting their phone number in the open forums is the right way to do it.

Maybe open up the idea in the regional chapter forum https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/f...play.php?f=138 that way the chapter leaders of each region could compile a list of participants.

I thought it worked out well in that instance. I'm not good with my phone # floating around out there. I would certainly help any fellow FTEers I could.

I am a member of a small forum related to satellite television that is private and we have all shared our home numbers, address's, ect. But the keyword there is "private". KFord did it the right way and got good results, but I doubt if all of us have the wireless capabilities he has. I have wireless but I don't think mine is as trick as his is. The trick may be to become pals with one or more members so one of them is always near a computer, then we are only a cell phone call alway. Course with me being in Alaska for the summer and having Nextel, that leaves me SOL.

several of the state chapters have lists like this already. I won't put my number on the open forum because it's unlisted do to bieng harrased by an ex, but don't mind if it's given to a member here. If someone wants to keep a list of numbers and locations for people then I am more than willing to add my name and number on that list.

It can be done. Running a secure server and say only "supporters" can register and will have to input all their info. Once the info is verified, then they can run a search for someone within a certain radius of where they are. That way there is no info posted to the general public and any info that is viewed by a registered member will be traceable back to them.

I hate to admit it, but even a windows server can handle that- no problem.

I am all for it as well, nothing like having a good support group behind ya when traveling. I am willing to maintain/distribute an excel spread sheet for all those who want to participate.

I want in, but I will be in Alaska until Labor Day, so will not be much use to anyone. I have suspended my Nextel service til the day I leave here as it does not work here anyway. Let me know what info you want from me.
