Say your keys get locked in your truck and your keyless pad doesn't work, here's an urban legend that works, I tried it.
I called my cell, set it on speakerphone and layed it on the running board of my Excursion. I walked back to my office, far enough away that the remote won't reach and hit the button, walked back out to my truck and sure enough it was unlocked! I wouldn't believe it until it worked.
Just what it says, try it. call your cell, set to speaker and lay it on your running board. Go back to the phone you used to call and put your remote next to it and hit your button then go check your truck, it should be unlocked, mine was.
If I lock the keys in my car...the remote will be with them. I suppose it would be good for a lock-out if someone at home could call your cell and use one of the other remotes.

I would normally say BS, but it may be possible for the RF to piggyback onto the cells signal. Try it from a greater distance, like a mile away and see what happens.

If your keys are locked in your truck, how do you have the keyfob?
As an aside, if you press your keyfob firmly under your chin while hitting a button, you can double or triple the range of the signal. Wierd, but true!

SmokinJohn...it's called body induction. Same way often holding a TV or radio antenna brings in a better signal.
Funny aside...I dated a particular girl twice. The first time we were together...many years ago...she laughed when I would use the remote at my chin. The next time we were together..7 years later...she admitted to trying same and feeling like an idiot for not beleiving me. (What a lasting impression I make)

I bet if you tried it from across town, it would not work.
The remote does not work on sound frequencies (below 20 kHz).......
I love snopes.com! I followed the link in the original post - Snopes says this is impossible. They said you are probably still close enough for your key fob to be working. Has "Myth Busters" tried this one?
