Changed my oil today and the ford motor craft 1995 part was stripped at the end of the filter. Would go on almost all the way, could have caused a problem if a person didnt know what they were doing and just pryed it on. Parts place took it back after I had put oil in it.

Yes, that is a standard/good tip, but I can say that I can crank off any oil filter even with a seized gasket. It is nothing more than a glorified oring made of rubber and I gaurantee I can rip it loose. Now stripped threads are another story, although the filter body is made of inferior metal as are the threads. What did the wrecker driver do to get it loose?

I didnt hang over his shoulder the whole time [I hate it when someone does that to me] but I did see him break out a ratchet, an extension or two and a nylon? strap. Halfway thru the job he got something out of the other side of his truck that I didnt see. Sounded kinda like a metal dish or cone when he was sliding it under the truck.

MAEVENS, the Kwik/Napa filter wrench is good. I got one of those off of Fleabay for $12.

Also don't forget to get the strap as close to the top of the oil filter as possible.
