Same here. I just change my heater core (1985 F-350 w/ AC). I would make sure you put the gasket back in (1 total - and it sits across the top of the heater core, it is liek a foam ruber type of gasket that is somewhat molded). Most places don't include them when you purchase the heater core.
The only problem I have had with aftermarket heater cores is that they tend to be not as long as the factory core for my high output application. This allows the core to move in the box. Because of this I have had to get a factory core each time.
Do you have the HO Heater Core w/o A/C. They are completely different heater cores w/ the in/out tubes being much longer than the heater cores for truck equipped w/ A/C. Still all things considered, atleast installing the heater cores in these trucks is a breeze compared to most autos.
