Job Interview.

Had a job interveiw today. Still with the Hospitals. It went pretty good. It looks like I may get it. Finally after 25 years. I took power engineering, Locksmithing, upgraded my welding. They finally recognise I can do the work they have. Always wanted that type of job than Security guard at the hospital.
It will be an increase in pay, yes, but no more dealing with the head games that people play. I can work on machinery and fix things, install things, Nice way to finish my last 5 years there. Would give me a bit bigger pension, or if I like it stay on longer. Changes early retirement plans somewhat.
Will know later in the week if I got the job. Right now I'm their top choice. Wahoo!!

Good news. This morning they called. I got the job. A $3.00 increase in pay, Monday to friday with the odd shiftwork to cover guys that are on holidays or sick. I start next Thurday for training and I'm being trained by a fella who I trained to work with me in security years ago. So being trained by someone I know and worked with is a bonus and makes the transition easier.
I was surprised the employer let me leave so fast. Must be me standing up to the poor manager we have. The sooner he can get rid of me as a thorn the better. Well he is running the job I had into the ground. It is a matter of time before they see his errors and terminate him for the incompetent work he does. He just knows how to smooze the higher ups. People are still stunned he still has a job there.

I look forward to first getting some bills paid up. Bad news here is my well is drying up and may ahve to drill a new well. The mine northwest of me did some sismetic(?) testing west of my place and it may of screwed up my water flow. My well is 92 ft deep into an old underground stream bed. If they did screw it up they seem to be pretty good about rectifying the problem for me by drilling a new well. So that may save me the cost. Will see there.
Otherwise I can afford those home reno projects and get the shop built up better for insulating and heating so I can work on those truck projects here.

Basically I just enlist in an evening course for 2 months at Siast and its more a refresher to kinda bring me back on how to do some methods or learn some new ones. I have not been doing much Arc welding, but I feel I need to bring me up to speed again. You tend to forget things if you do not do them for years. So some of those technyics I need to just be reminded how and to do it right. It is more for my benefit. I have not done any arc welding for nearly 8 years. The odd small job thats all.

Just til the firemans level. With a passing mark of 98. This job I got will not require anything further unless I want to change positions in Maint. to a higher level like 4th class or 3rd. At this time not interested. Just happy to get in the door for now.

With only 5 years to go, you'd have to REALLY want it before it would be worth the trouble to go with more. Sounds like you've covered your bases pretty well. Again, congrats!
