I never considered that the wires might be broken in the spot where the glass bottoms out...when I tested it with a 12 volt battery I simply jumped to the leads in the plastic connector which lie before the sag/loop in the wires ....I dont know how I could reach up with leads at the point where the wires enter the motor though I cant reach the motor as it is allready. The link was helpful in some ways but right off the bat it shows picture of the tailgate down ....I cant get my tailgate down because my window is stuck all they way in the up position.

Hi I have not considered yet that the wires might be severed where it loops under the bottom of the moving window. I guess in your case some how over the years it stretched and snapped the copper inside the insulation? How did you discover this ? Its amazing that you even thought of this. I will try to stick a test probe into the wires as close as possible to the motor as I can reach and see if turning the switch on and off will light the test probe light.

96 bronco rear window motor

ok I went back and pressed the electric probe into the wires where they enter the motor....the probe lit up while pressing the red wire while at the same time activating the key switch however when testing the yellow wire I get no reading while pressing the key switch in either direction. Should only the red wire indicate power or should the yellow wire also when attempting to reverse the window direction ?

Ok seems i'm having some problems with my rear glass also,
Check this and see if my diagnosis is correct. I have juice and everything seems to be correct back to the switch in tailgate. I have no juice at all into the safety switch at the latch therefore no juice to motor ( which does work when jumping with battery. I think that the switch is bad does this make sense to you all? And if does do any of you know where I can obtain one.
Thanks for you help in advance

Before replacing anything push really hard onthe left side of the tailgate and try the key. It could be its out of adjustment, mine did this.

rear glass problem

Thanks I'll try that in the morning,
The previous owners said it worked with the key before but not the interior switch. I found a bad fuse in fuse box for this circuit and the switch seems to work correctly now but it still didn't operate the window thanks for advice.

Glad you found the problem.
Check local junkyards.
I never seen one of those break before.
Send bronco graveyard a e-mail and see if they have um.
Buy from the dealer at last resort!
