left rear brake getting hot

left rear brake getting hot

i drove into town and came home and noticed my left rear brake was hot. I dont know if i need to pull the caliper off or what.
its a 02 f-350 SRW

Did you check the other side to make sure that it is hotter than that one ??? Did you accidently drive with the E-brake on ??? If neither of the above applies, check the sliding pins on the affected caliper. They have a habit of siezing up on super duties. If they are siezed up, try and pull them out, (could be quite hard), wire wheel them, and reinstall using some hi-temp synthetic caliper slide grease. If they are free, try compressing the pistons in the caliper. I've never seen one sieze, but anything is possible.

I had a caliper seize up on one of my back wheels. Definitely check the slide pins first. When my caliper went even a c-clamp wouldn't push the piston back in. If you have to replace it, you may as well replace the other side.
