Redline brake control

Redline brake control
Does anybody know anything about Redline electric brake controls?
I had a 2003 Explorer 4.6 that I had used to tow my travel trailer with, and it was equiped with a Reese electric brake controller. Everything seemed to work really smooth when braking with the Explorer.
I traded in the Explorer on a more fuel friendly daily driver, and had an electric brake control (Redline) installed on my truck (79-150 in signature). I tow a 4000# travel trailer to the mountains a couple time a month in the summer.
The brake control works, but not nearly as smoothly as the one that was on my Explorer. I'm always having to adjust the controller to try and get the right amount of braking.
Is the Redline a sub-standard brake controler to the Reese, or is the difference in braking just because my tow vehicle is older?
Would having a different brake controller installed help? I have read through the posts, and everybody seems to like the Prodigy, but what makes it better?
Thanks for any replies,
-Ron

There is normally a sensitivity setting on the controller that controls how fast the brake controller comes on. Seperate from the intensity, and usually on the back or underside of the controller. you might check it out and see, it may be set to high that it is coming on very quickly and feels awkwards.
The prodigy is pretty much plug and play, pretty sure it works off inertia vs. one point settings. Harder the brake, the more voltage applied to the trailer brakes.

I went to the Tekonsha website to try and find out more about the Prodigy. I seen the Tekonsha P.O.D. brake controller, and it is the same exact brake controller as my Redline with different stickers/labels. Redline must be a division of Tekonsha? I still think I'm going to upgrade to the Prodigy, or at least a brake controller with two adjustments.
