Mark there is no adapter on mine, there should be two thread sizes on the end of the hose a small at the bottom and a larger one up higher screw it in and see for sure. You can use the hose to do a leak test by removing the vavle stem from the end and connecting the compressor fitting to the guage end.. no reading just a way to hear if there is a leak on a valve. Piston and valves need to be in position for hole being tested. Cheap crap works!!! heck I paid 26.00 for a full set of micrometers from china.. checked them and standards against my bosses Starret, and dead on through the whole inch on every gauge!! Them China boys duplicate real good like Just dont drop it LOL
mark, you should prop the throttle wide open, have the engine at operating temp., and hook a battery charger up, so cranking speed stays consistent. I realize you don't have it running, but as long as the readings are even from cylinder to cylinder it gives an indication of the overall condition of the rings and valves.
Pull the center ignition wire on the dizzy and ground it to any metal on the motor to prevent any electronic ignition damage should it happen with your system. Better to be safe.
Thanks for all the tips, Guys. I did better in all cyl. I got a 135 144 143 135 all on the drivers side starting form front moving back...152 150 125 149 on pass. side starting form front moving back... The 125 concerns me a little, I did it a few times on that cyl.. same read every time. Another thing I noticed this time that i didn't last time I did the test is that all the plugs on the drivers side were wet with oil..or maybe gas..looked like oil... all the plugs on the pass. side were dry...Maybe someone can shed some lite on that for me...Thanks again for all your help.
squirt some oil in the cylinder and see if it improves (yes) rings..(no) valve related.. not that big a deal realy.. i'd run that puppy till it drops..just stay on top of it.. if it drops off real bad/quick one week it's most likely a burnt exhaust valve.. another of my joy's with the 352 in mine
I'm not sure if it will, but why take the chance? If you ground the coil to distributor wire there is no spark anywhere and no strain on the plug wires, coil, or distributor, so it is a good idea.
