I TOOK A STRAIGHT 6 CYLINDER OUT OF MY 1968 F-100 AND REPLACED IT WITH A 302 OUT OF A 1979 LTD, THAT I REBUILT. I NOW SEE THAT I CAN NOT FIT MY RADIATOR WITH THE FAN, AFTER I HAVE INSTALLED AND REBUILT IT. IT LOOKS LIKE THE ENGINE NEEDS TO MOVE BACK A COUPLE OF INCHES. IS THERE SOME MOUNTS THAT WILL WORK OR DO I NEED TO DO SOMETHING ELSE?
PLEASE CONTACT ME AND HELP.
THANKS,
GREG WISE
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 20-Dec-01 AT 10:11 PM (EST)]You will need the correct engine mounts to the vehicle the motor is going into, and the correct mounting pedastals (the 2 "towers" the engine bols to, mounted on the cradle).
If these are all correct to the truck, the engine should be a perfect fit.
Greg you are new and are welcome here, but you gotta stop shouting at us. (loose the all caps) I have a set of perches for your engine if interested, my email is below.

In the cool still quiet of night, you can hear chevies rusting away.
Greg, the engine should sit as far back in the engine compartment as possible without hitting the firewall. Have you connected the drive shaft, accelerator linkage, shift linkage, exhaust? Fan clearance may not be your largest problem. Or you could use an electric fan in front of the radiator.

The 300 frame towers come straight out from the frame,
and the 302 towers angle toward the rear of the truck.
You need to get the 302 towers and that should cure
the problem.
I had a 67 F100 that I yanked the 6 out of and put in a V8 (but it was a 352, not a 302. I had gone to the junkyard and bought the engine towers out of a truck that had a V8 in it. Got home and they were the same as the six cylinder towers. Got me thinking, guess the 6 is longer than the 8, so I started looking around on the crossmember and here there was another set of holes there, just had to move the towers back!
