F150 - 2006 5.4 Transmission hard shifting 1st 2nd
Hi all!
My F150 2006 have a rebuilt transmission installed at 100k miles. It shift hard from 1st to 2nd when starting from a red light. This is the second rebuilt, the first one have same hard-shift problem and I just drove it thought it will "learn" and go away, after 5k miles clutch was gone, I had to take it out and replace. This 2nd rebuilt installed and same problem returns.
DO I need to reprogram the transmission after install?
Does it have auto learn mode?
Maybe this is cause by engine, ignition coil as suggested by some?
I'm stuck!
Liem H
Thanks for the help in advance

Hi Carguy, there is no code at all. It seem like hard shift ( shift at right place but make a bump when engage). I also notice this happen, when I am rolling at low speed, in parking lot, tap gas pedal and let go, it sometime make that bump.
I imagine late shift would be...1st gear to higher than normal rpm then shift?

That does make a difference have you checked the fluid and type. sounds like an internal issue did the shop that overhauled the trani do a line pressure check? how did you check the codes as typical scanners wont pick up trans codes. as for the clunk it could be a few things non transmission related.
Is the unit out of warranty and is the same shop or garage rebuilding the trans each time. you could also check for movement in the drive line. also if this is the same case that's being used over it could have internal damage that a rebuild wont fix.
