My truck is a 2006 ext cab Lariat. I've noticed something different at the bottom of the doors. Where the outer skin is folded under and to the inside of the door, this seam is not folded tight and sealed. This would be directly under the side door pocket. This leaves a trough for water and stuff to lay in. My past trucks had this seam folded tight and sealed. Is this the way they are made now? Liked it a lot better all sealed up.
Thats's how mine are. Also there was a post awhile back were a few more people said the same thing. I put oil down the trough to help prevent corrosion. But your right it does look like they missed a step during production, but I guess thats how ford wants it.
I have the same thing in my truck. I believe it was left like that to prevent corrosion. IF it was sealed or pressed together there would be no way to let the water, dirt out that gets in from the window.
They have learned from the earlier trucks, like my bronco, if it is sealed there is no place for the water to get out and condensation forms and it rusts from the inside out. I agree with ford9c and you should keep it cleen and oiled, but if it was sealed you couldnt be cleaned.
I own a 2004 Ford F150 STX and have determined that the stock speakers suck. No surprise but anyways i found out that front speakers are easy as pie to replace but when i got to the back speakers it was a little more complicated. I researched the internet and realized that i had to take the entire door apart to get to the rear speakers so after disassembling the all of the plastic pieces i finnaly got to the speakers and removed them and they were soaked becuase i drove in the rain that day but i found it odd that speakers could get wet and still work unless they are not supposed to be wet then infact i have a serious problem on my hands so if anyone knows anything about that help would be greatly appreciated ??? On the positive side of it i noticed that Ford mounted the rear windows on tracks and it has the hardware and everything to roll down which makes me wonder why Ford couldnt have put a handle on the rear window so you could roll them down... well after a search for a hex head i got the rear window to roll down and now im searching for a handle anyways just thought i would let that be known to anyone with a supercab.
