Terry, I may be too much of a purist but I have to ask, why? You don't see many Merc trucks period, modifying one would seem like sacrilege but that's just my opinion. It's your truck to do what you want with. What engine do you have in there now? Why not go with a FE in any of the big bore/stroke flavors? You can't tell from the outside until you put your foot into it. JMHO
You will need a truck pan, truck manifolds if not headers, and 460 truck frame mounts. It has been my experience that car trannys have a longer tailshaft. Mine did out of a 77 mark V. I had to shorten my driveshaft and fabricate a mount.
