seatbelt conversion

Anybody ever convert their lapbelts from an 85 B2 to the later 88 B2 lapbelt system. I'm kind of stuck because the 85 has the lapbelts bolted into the floor at each side of the tunnel. I want to go to the 88 system wich appears to be attached to the seats on a track some how. My 85 belts have about had it and the 88 sytem is easier and much more likely to be found in better shape because they don't have all that plastic sleeving around the belts that is always decrepid and broken. I can't find any pictures or information on how everything goe's together at the seats...can I keep my existing seats and just attach somehow?anybody? I'm just finishing up a conversion from an A4LD to the "88 FM146 five speed standard. Everything from the 88 2.9 hooked right in to my 2.8 litre. Had to rewire a bit here and there and find a clutch pedal with switch, but thats it.Just stuck with this belt problem. Thanks

On my 1984, 1986, 1987 BII the left and right lap belts were bolted to the floor. Ford changed that in 1988?

The buckle ends are attached to seperate tracks that run parallel to to the seat
tracks. There is a bracket that attaches to the seat track, and slides on the seperate track to keep the buckle in the same place with the seat, when shifting back and forth. if your vehicle does not already have this, it looks like it would be a real job
to retro fit it.

Thank you for your interest rebocardo and fl1a, much appreciated. I have the seat brackets from an 88 B2 which originally had this system attached somehow. Okay...so I get it fl1a...I can see a small tab that rears up off the inside rear corner of the seat bracket itself for the passenger side lapbelt track sliding bracket? to attach to ,with a small hardened 10 millimeter bolt?? looks wimpy... and the end of the slider has a large circular portion that accepts the big anodized torx bolt which goes into the floor where the older belt would bolt up, so I sort of got that figured out today....sort of. Looks like it needs some cosmetics there as well. However, where does the drivers side attach to? I'm seriously lost with that one. No tab there I can attach to that I can see .Although the electrical connection for the belt warning buzzer is right handy, I just don't see a place to localise the belt and bracket like the passenger side...stumped.Thanks for your help so far.

I just checked the drivers' side, and it is conventionally mounted to the floor. The
drivers' seat does not move out of the way in the same manner as the passenger
seat. On the passenger side, the tab and bracket that attaches to the seat is not
the load bearing portion. the rail that mounts to the floor parallel to the seat rail
appears to take the place of the fixed point of the drivers' side.

Thank you fl1a.. the first part makes a lot of sense and I have that mounted now. I just need to find the little cover that go's on the end so it looks good and people don't nick their toes on it. However, I hve the drivers side setup and it looks the same as the passenger side only in reverse. So Im still wondering..does it mount at more than one point to keep it paralell?

I'm wondering if they gave you two passenger side setups, because on my 88 the
drivers' side is just mounted to the floor. The seat does not move to clear access to the back seat as the passenger seat does, so it does not need to travel with the
seat as far.
