This is a c and p of a post a friend of mine from NC made at another forum about problems with his brand new Chevy "junk". Just wondering what the
knowledgeable members here think of this. Of all the hours I have spent here reading I have not seen anything about bad fuel causing this kind of damage.
2006 Chevrolet 2500HD diesel
<HR style="COLOR: #d1d1e1" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->I purchased some fuel for my truck while out of town and the contaminated fuel message came on. I drained the fuel filter and restarted the truck. The messsage went off and in about 15 miles it started skipping and knocking which was injector ping due to starving for fuel i am guessing not rods cause it would quit. Then it lost power and the engine light came on and i shut the truck off and as i was out of state i had it towed to a dealership there with instructions for them to drain the tank and purge the fuel system and i would pick up the truck later or have it shipped back to me at home. Imagine my suprise when i recieved a phone call from them telling me i need a new motor at the tune of 20 grand and it is not coverd by warranty due to it being caused by contaminated fuel. WTF is up with that? I have never heard of contaminated fuel ruining a motor. The fuel filter would not let enough water get through and if it did the injectors would not let it into the motor. They are saying that it busted some pistons and bent a rod and blew some hydro seals or something like that resulting in oil being blown from the exhaust pipe. I haven't looked at the truck myself cause i came on home but if it is blowing oil from the exhaust it sounds more like turbo seals being blown instead of the motor. Any of you guys got any serious ideas on this one. Oh and Doc, the truck is not on viagra. lol
not the first Dmax i've seen with this issue......i know alot of guys in this business and everyone with a Dmax has had serious problems and regrets everything but the power.
Hmmmm......sounds like Japanese engineereing mixed with General Motors Ingenuity. I'm not sure, but I think this is what may have started WWII.
More like General Motors ingenuity. Isuzu DOES make good diesels, but the D-max is not one of them. I wonder what specs The General demanded that prevented the D-max from working properly?
As for that Duramax issue, 20K to fix? That's BS and everyone here knows it. They're just trying to make a buck off what is probably a simple fix. That happened to a buddy of mine on his 03 Duramax, they covered it under warranty and gave him his truck back; he hasn't had a problem since.
Was this contaminated diesel?
Or did he accidentally put some gas in his truck?

I'll never sell my truck for 2 reasons:1. Someone would have to pay me WAY over Blue Book value for me to even think about it. 2. I couldnt afford/ dont want to pay what they ask for these trucks nowadays.
